Reflection Journal on HRIS final exam preparation

Overall, today’s performance is good. Although I still got up a little bit later. This problem should be solved in the following days. I printed all the lecture notes and readings of HRIS and started to prepare my final exam. When I was reading those materials, I found that I was pretty much easier to understand concepts and theories of HRM than those of IS. However, I think it’s very good learning experience that I can review knowledge in terms of HRM, meanwhile, I also can gain new knowledge of information systems.
Important thing for me is to understand how information systems applied in HRM to help HR managers pursuing competitive advantages of organization. I reviewed two topics are: one is performance management, compensation & benefit; another is recruitment & selection. For performance management, although I have already had a subject in last semester and learn lots of things from that course, but I still need to review some readings during this summer vocation to enhance my knowledge. When I read the material, I also realize that when my previous company implemented a HRIS, we have never thought about putting performance management into the HRISs. Our HRIS includes personnel module, attendance, training and development, payroll systems. Nonetheless, our HRIS did not integrated with others EPR systems at all in the organization. Even worse, implementing HRIS didn't link to business strategy and strategic HRM.L.
For recruitment is discusses benefits and drawback of e-recruitment. I have already written an essay regarding this topic. For selection part, I think I probably need to look back the textbook of recruitment and selection later around.
