IS & knowledge management Notes

Because of updating my computer system, I couldn’t access to internet for couples of days. It’s back now.J. Quite happy. Nothing is new and leading my normal life in here these days. Studying is quite boring, in fact. I just wanna get out of this bloody shit sooner rather than later. I really wanna go back my career life, it’s much more interesting and colorful. From today, learning topics will pretty much more focus on information system & knowledge management. Actually, the concepts and theories of this subject are totally new for me. So I think I can learn something through my final exam preparation. After I go through the lecture notes and textbook, I realize at least I understand something in terms of what’s the information system, how to design information system in organization, what’s design support system , and what’s knowledge management and so on so forth. Quite enjoy though.

Topic one: Knowledge Elicitation:

Knowledge Elicitation means the process of discovering knowledge from a human source, commonly using methods of observation, interview, question and verbal or behavioural analyses. (p.520)

In informatics, knowledge elicitation is commonly associated with the discovery and representation of the knowledge of a human expert. When someone has rare or dying –out knowledge , or an ability to make specialised and expert classification. In developing information systems, Knowledge Elicitation techniques are also used for requirement analysis. All the activities involve what people think , finding their framework of understanding, and representing it in a communicable for.

Some KE methods are : interviewing , protocol analysis, prototyping and storyboarding , task analysis, repertory grid, card sorting, twenty questions. (Details see p.103.)
