印度国防部首次承认阿琼坦克存在严重缺陷
据俄通社报道，印度国防部日前承认，印耗时30余年研制的“阿琼”主战坦克存在着一系列严重的技术缺陷。
印主管国家军事工业的国务部长辛格近日在回答议员质询时承认，“阿琼”主战坦克主要存在着五项缺陷，其中包括较低的射击精度和稳定性。在经过去年冬季的野外测试后，印陆军对“阿琼”坦克的性能做出了完全负面的评价。
辛格指出，在测试过程中，“阿琼”坦克的发动机和液压传动装置均出现了故障。在实弹射击结束后，还在坦克炮筒中发现了脱落物。所有这些缺陷都表明，“阿琼”坦克并不适合装备部队。
“阿琼”重型坦克研制计划始于1974年。由于研制进度一再延误且坦克存在多种缺陷，该计划曾多次遭到严厉抨击。此前有报道称，“阿琼”坦克计划目前耗费的资金已超过最初计划的10倍之多。然而，令印度国防部倍感难堪的是，这种耗费大量人力物力研制的坦克唯一能够胜任的就是在印国庆阅兵时跑上一圈。
八年前，印度陆军曾决定定购124辆“阿琼”坦克。2006年，共有14辆坦克交付印陆军用于实战条件下的测试。然而，测试活动最终已失败告终。尤其是，从德国进口的发动机曾多次发生故障。
印军方认为，“阿琼”根本不符合作战要求，必须进行全面的改进。
“阿琼”主战坦克采用常规总体布置。驾驶舱在车体前部右侧，炮塔位于车体中部，车长和炮长位于炮塔右侧，装填手位于炮塔左侧，动力装置后置。120mm线膛炮装有水平和高低双向稳定器，发射整装炮弹。辅助武器有1挺7.62mm并列机枪和1挺安装在炮塔顶端的12.7mm高射机枪。标准装备包括计算机化火控系统、昼/夜瞄准系统、三防装置和车体后部的附加油箱。
印军方曾要求“阿琼”的指标要到达甚至超越德国“豹II”坦克的水平，但在经过30余年的漫长研制过程后，该型坦克无论是在动力系统方面，还是在主炮性能方面都无法满足基本的作战需求。同时，“阿琼”58.5吨的重量也是印国内大部分桥梁所无法承受的。
